The sun was shining on Valencia Street this morning as Friends, both new and returning, gathered at SFFS to kick off the 2018–19 school year. Old friends who hadn't seen each other in months hugged, and new students who just met one another earlier this week at orientation laughed on the front yard as they waited to file into their classrooms by grade level. Parents of new students then headed up to the peaceful quiet of the Meeting Room to write letters that their student will open at their 8th-grade graduation... And though that may seem far away now, many alumni parents will attest to the fact that time flies at Friends! Our community closed out the day with a rare afternoon Meeting for Worship, where we came together to reflect and Head of School Mike Hanas posed two questions for the staff and students gathered: What did you feel today? And what did you bring?
Here's to a great year, SFFS!
