Our Strategic Vision
San Francisco Friends School is at an exciting moment in our school’s history. When the school was founded in 2002, we were the first Quaker school on the West Coast - and that pioneering and innovative spirit continues to guide us today.
During the 2024-25 school year, we embarked on a strategic planning process to reflect on who we are, imagine who we want to be, and create a future vision for our school that boldly embodies our mission. The process reaffirmed what is sacred to our community and we explored ways to evolve and stay relevant in a rapidly changing landscape. As we envisioned the future of SFFS, we stayed firmly rooted in what makes us an exceptional learning community in the heart of San Francisco.
Strategic planning is a community-wide endeavor; every member of our community is impacted, and therefore every member of our community is considered. Guided by the Quaker idea of continuous revelation, we tapped into the collective wisdom of our diverse and caring community through a survey, focus groups, and an iterative process of sharing and refining our collective understanding of where we are and where we want to go.
Our Strategic Planning Task Force was intentionally composed of current and past members of our Board of Trustees, administrators, teachers, and parents who brought diverse perspectives to this important process. We’re grateful to every member of our school community who shared their perspectives and experiences. We invite you to read our strategic plan, Light the Way Forward.
