Friends Come Out for the MLK23 March

Our families were thrilled to be back out for the San Francisco MLK Day March this past weekend, after years of pandemic-related cancellations. We love this beautiful tradition and the opportunity to honor the legacy of Dr. King, while remaining focused on all the work that remains in order to achieve the dreams he held.

As Dr. King's daughter, Dr. Bernice King said, “If you’re going to quote and authentically honor my father on MLK Day, commit to embracing a ‘World House’ perspective. Determine how you’ll disrupt unjust systems and thinking with nonviolent strategy. Support policies that reflect higher consciousness. Make no excuses for hate.” This is a call to action for all of us.

For over a decade now, SFFS has had a devoted group of marchers participate in this community event that draws thousands of participants. After walking together for 1.5 miles, they come together at the end of the route for a picnic and celebration at Yerba Buena Gardens.

Thank you to all the Friends families who came out to march together once again and in community!
