head of school search

About the Search

Following Pankti’s announcement in early November that she will step down at the end of the 2025–2026 school year, the Board of Trustees has begun the search for a new Head of School to start in July 2026. The board is committed to an inclusive search process that reflects SFFS’s mission and values, with community collaboration and open communication.

A Search Committee will lead the process of identifying and evaluating candidates, and ultimately will recommend a new Head of School for approval of the Board. The search committee will be co-chaired by trustees Seth Brenzel and Gaby Mishev, and the committee will be inviting input from all students, families, faculty, staff and alumni this Winter 2025.

The board has retained Resource Group 175 (RG175), a renowned national consulting firm specializing in independent school leadership transitions.  Our search consultants Coreen Hester, Steve Morris, and John Green, all former heads of school, will help us lead a comprehensive, inclusive, and thoughtful search process.  RG175 has deep connections to the Bay Area, knowledge of SFFS, and network of national and international contacts throughout the educational community.

Our Mission

At San Francisco Friends School, students learn in a community grounded in the Quaker values of reflection, integrity, peaceful problem-solving and stewardship.

Our teachers challenge students with a dynamic curriculum that inspires curiosity, cooperation and hard work. We teach children to listen to all voices and to trust their own.

We engage with the world around us with kindness and conviction, working toward the Quaker ideal of a caring and just society.

Our Commitment to Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

In service of our mission, we commit to nurturing a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. Our Quaker testimonies and practices guide us to reflect and deepen our understanding and appreciation for one another's differences while acknowledging we each possess distinct power, privilege, and responsibility to advance equity. SFFS commits to fostering belonging and connection among its members within and beyond our school community. This ongoing, essential work is furthered and sustained through dialogue, reciprocal learning, and engagement.
