20 years of friends

The 2022–2023 school year is one of joy and celebration at the San Francisco Friends School as we celebrate our 20th year in community. Over two decades, we have grown, evolved, thrived. From the Castro to the Mission, from one fledging Kindergarten class to a robust K–8 program, from an initial vision to an inspired reality and ongoing dreams for the future, we celebrate the story of Friends.

it all started with a committed group of parents, a determined head of school, an energized band of teachers, and a joyful class of kindergartners at 117 diamond street.

In these pages you will hear from the voices that have made our school what it is: founding families, longtime faculty and staff, members of our pioneer Class of 2011, and more. We hope you enjoy this archived history of SFFS, and continue to check back often, as we will continuously add to these pages over the course of the winter and spring, culminating in our on-campus anniversary celebrations in May. Happy 20th, Friends!

There was shared experience and care, and a desire to help and be a part of something greater.
