“Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Alumni are the legacy of our Friends School, important in the school’s young history and strong future. Our alumni program is built around community, a Quaker tenet we hold dear, and we strive to maintain meaningful connections with all of our graduates.

Alumni are invited to continue participating in the life of the school through volunteerism, events, and visits with faculty and staff. There are currently two annual events for alumni students: the SFFS Alumni Reunion in November and the Alumni Family Picnic and Service Day in June. Parents of alumni, instrumental in the growth and success of our young school, also gather together for an annual adults-only reunion and are invited to other parents-only events like Booktopia and a Parenting Teens education program. Alumni students and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend Community Meeting for Worship throughout the year and the Candlelight Meeting for Worship in December.

Volunteer opportunities for alumni students to earn service learning hours and deepen their connection to the school are offered through events in the Development Office, activities through the Extended Day and After3 programs, and open houses for prospective families put on by the Admissions Office. Volunteer opportunities are posted on the San Francisco Friends School Alumni Facebook page, sent by e-mail, and included in the weekly Circle Back.

An up to date calendar listing of alumni events and volunteer opportunities can be found on the alumni wiki. Event invitations and announcements are posted to Facebook—follow us and “friend” Chanda Guerin, Annual Fund and Alumni Manager!
