Jennifer Arnest grew up in Baltimore, where she and her two brothers attended Baltimore Friends School. Jennifer’s mother was a teacher, and Jen felt like a “school person” from her earliest years. Jennifer brings seventeen years of teaching and administrative experience to SFFS - two years as kindergarten teacher at the International School of Tanganyika in East Africa, three years as a first and second grade teacher at University Child Development School in Seattle, and several more as first grade teacher, Assessment Committee Chair, and faculty Board representative at The Nueva School. Jen left Nueva to lead the elementary program at Mills College Children’s School, where she taught K/1, served as Resource Coordinator, supervised student teachers, and helped in the hiring and supervision of teachers. Jennifer and her partner Martin are parents of two children, Sofia (SFFS first grader) and Luca.
